Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November this year, so Black Friday deals will be launched globally from Friday, 25th November 2022. WHY IS IT CALLED BLACK FRIDAY?
Accountants use black to signify profit and red to signify loss, so with Black Friday being one of the most profitable days for the economy and for retailers across the globe, it was only right for the sales extravaganza to be named Black Friday. However, Black Friday wasn’t always perceived as a positive day. It was originally named Black Friday back in the 60s by police in Philadelphia who complained about the congested streets clogged with pedestrians and motorists, thanks to the pouring of people into town on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
