2019 fashion trends

We may have closed the door on 2018, but that doesn't mean we're not dragging some of 2018's biggest fashion trends straight through that door with us! Sorry haters, but chunky trainers and neon brights are staying right here in 2019 for the forseeable future.

You can forget all about unrealistic New Year’s Resolutions, because this year the only goal you should be striving for is to be the best-dressed version of you, so while we may not be able to help you out with your 2019 fitness goals, we can certainly help you out when it comes to your fashion goals.

Want to know which fashion trends are sticking around for 2019? Of course you do...

Sports luxe fashion trend 2019

Wait, you mean we can wear joggers without actually having to work out? Now this is a trend we are here for. Forget the genuine activewear that is about to be rammed down your throat for the entirety of January and instead say a fond hello to the sports luxe trend which means you get to reap the benefits of the leisurewear hype without actually having to step foot in a gym, all in the name of fashion! Influencers have been stepping out in joggers for what seems like forever now and this isn’t about to change anytime soon, so jump on the January sports luxe hype and invest in a few sporty staples that’ll slot right into your laid-back weekend wardrobe.

Neon fashion trend 2019

Forget pretty pastels and neutral tones for now, because there's only one colour palette that should be on your agenda for 2019 and that is fluorescent. Yep, we’re talking neon limes, fluorescent pinks and neon yellows that will have those highlighters of your pencil case past seething with envy. The neon trend has been threatening to make an appearance on the high street for a while now and with the bravest of influencers having already dabbled in this trend in 2018, 2019 is time for neon to finally have its well-deserved high street moment. Don’t be alarmed, because neons are surprisingly easier than they look to style and the easiest way to dabble in the neon trend is with fail-safe knitwear and sporty, casual pieces. Try teaming a chunky roll neck neon knit with an all-black look for a bold finishing touch, or opt for a sports luxe everyday look with a neon tee and Mom jeans for a vintage inspired look with a modern finish this winter.

Layering fashion trend 2019

Gone are the days where your Mum has to chase you out the front door screaming at you to put a coat on, because layering has become fashion’s favourite new obsession, meaning the coat has never been a more vital part of your outfit. (Bet you’re glad to hear that Mum, aren’t you?) From chunky roll necks layered over maxi skirts to blazers layered under coats to classic roll necks styled under pinafore dresses, layering is set to be 2019’s biggest autumn winter trend. A trend that not only keeps you warm in England’s arctic winter temperatures but also gives you serious style points is certainly a trend we can get on board with…

Prints fashion trend 2019

Oh wait, you thought animal print was staying in 2018? Sorry hon, you thought wrong. As we enter a new year of fashion, instead of fizzling out like the polka dots and stripes of the 2018 fashion past, animal print is doing the complete opposite and is on course to be even bigger in 2019, as we see the emergence of some new wild prints on the block. As we move away from the classic leopard print we saw so much of in 2018, 2019 is set to be all about the slightly wilder zebra, tiger and snake prints and we are all for it. With animal prints now splattered across everything from outerwear to workwear to leisurewear to denim and nightwear, there’s no escaping this fashion trend this 2019. (No but seriously, what did we do before animal print was a thing?)

Midi length fashion trend 2019

Forget mini and maxi, because there’s a new favourite hemline on the block and it goes by the name of midi. The end of 2018 saw an influx of midi skirts on the high street, with retailers choosing to lower their hemlines for party season and beyond. With satin finishes, pleated designs and statement animal prints, the midi skirt is back for 2019, so if mini isn’t your thing, then this might just be the fashion trend for you! The most versatile and figure-flattering length of all, a midi dress or skirt can take your wardrobe places, so trust us when we say that this is the staple piece you'll want hanging in your wardrobe this season. Try teaming a chunky roll neck knit with a midi skirt and trainers for a laid-back everyday look and swap out the knit for a lace bodysuit to take your look from day to play.

Print clash fashion trend 2019

Why wear one print when you can wear three? 2019 is the year for ditching the rules and wearing what you want, when you want and clashing your prints is a pretty good place to start. With print dominating the AW18 catwalk, the high street saw an influx of baroque, spots, stripes and of course that infamous animal print we’ve all grown to love. So now we’ve all learnt how to confidently rock leopard print without looking like Kat Slater, there’s only one way to go and that is to level up and start clashing those prints. Want to stay on the wild side? Try teaming leopard print with zebra print for a killer going out look, or up your workwear game and team some monochrome stripes with a pair of statement snake print boots to give your 2019 9-5 wardrobe a stylish update.

Utility fashion trend 2019

It wouldn’t be a new year without the utility trend trying to make an appearance again, would it? The functional yet fashionable trend is set make a more dominant appearance for 2019 and to be honest, we’re not mad about it. 2019 is set to be the year of cargo trousers, oversized belts, exaggerated collars and fancy fastenings and the utility trend is here to give your workwear wardrobe a much-needed update. Not a fan of fiddly workwear? Give your off-duty wardrobe a utility look with a pair of cargo trousers teamed with a neon sweat for a killer laid-back luxe look this season.

Tailoring fashion trend 2019

Remember when pastel co-ord suits and blazers were the only thing everyone talked about in 2018? Well newsflash, they’re still as big as ever now it’s 2019. The tailoring trend is only gaining momentum by the day, so if this one’s not for you, then we’re sorry because you’re about to see a whole lot more of blazers and two piece suits this year. Just to be clear, blazers = still huge. Suit co-ords = still huge. Smart trousers outside of the office = still huge.
